Our very first Who is Who is (drum roll please.....) Sherry Mendoza.

Sherry is a whirlwind of creativity and for those of you who are on face book Sherry has set up a silent auction to raise money for Queensland Flood victims. Your Creative Journey Silent Auction for QLD flood Victims. A great cause and a wealth of talent that you can bid on :)

Tell us a bit about your self Sherry?

I have just started my own business venture called ‘Your Creative Journey’ which allows me to bring International and Local artists to stores all over Australia and New Zealand. The response has been amazing and I am looking forward to the Journey!
I am also currently designing for Tattered Angels, Helmar Adhesives, Punky Sprouts and a fantastic challenge blog White With 1.  I love the challenges that being on design teams provides, with Tattered Angels in particular I have really had to think ‘outside the box’ but I love it! I am also on the editorial team of an American online magazine called Scrap N Art.

How long have you been scrapbooking?  I have always done some kind of craft, but I have been scrapbooking for about 12 years now.

What inspired you to scrapbook?  I wanted to make something for my eldest daughter’s 21st birthday (which at that time was still a number of years away) and I had a friend who scrapbooked so thought it would be a great idea to make an album for her.

Can you describe your style? Changeable…It really depends on my mood, for pages I tend to do clean style but for Off the Page I am do tend to shabbiness.

What are your favourite tools?  My misting mats and Tim Holtz scissors…I am still looking for the perfect 12 x 12 trimmer or guillotine…

What do you wish that you knew when you were first starting out? That I don’t need approval from anyone else if I am happy with what I am creating!

What is the biggest challenge you face?  Negative people, they can really bring you down if you let them.

Do you create every day? Yes I am keeping an Art Journal so even if I create nothing else all day I do something in my Art Journal.

Describe your perfect creative area?  Lots of space and storage for product!

Does that resemble where you actually create?I am very happy with my scrap room, I have a lot of storage space and two huge desks, enough room for a friend to come scrap with me!

Do you prefer to create in a group or by yourself? Mostly alone or with one friend, although I do have a monthly gathering of girls at my house, we usually talk more than we create J

What inspires you? Everything, life, nature, moods, colours…

What do you do for fun? Apart from creating I love photography and music.

Can you finish this sentence: a happy day for me is....keeping the creative life balance!
