Happy April Fools day!

Happy April first or April fools day to everyone! Today is a fantastic day. Firstly Fridays and the start of weekends are always good. Secondly I am off on our Scrapbook Retreat - triple yay. Three yays because it is 3 days of total scrapping. Would you like a peek at one of the projects we are doing.....

Now don't you wish you were coming with us???

Here is the best reason that it is a fantastic day, I get to introduce you to a fantastic lady. Dawn Lewis. I first met the lovely Dawn as she was stranded and lost on her way to SIA in 2010. You can read more about that fateful first meeting here:

So lets get to know Dawn better;
Dawn Lewis is a freelance artist & designer living on the NSW Cenral Coast.  She has been sole DT member for Brandcorp P/L for the last 5 years including brands such as Francheville, Martha Stewart, Milford Threads & Semco (embroidery & paint).  You can find her original line of Fifi & Frankie cross stitch kits at Spotlight.  Dawn is also on the Kenny K Design Team, specializing in very funky digital stamps for this New York designer.  She designs sewing patterns for Australian Girl dolls as well as selling her own line of dolls at Hello Dollies.  Dawn also supports Southern Cross Kids Camp page drive and the FDAA memory box program.
How long have you been scrapbooking?
9 years. I won a box of scrapbooking supplies and my second daughter had just been born.
What inspired you to scrapbook?
I won a box of scrapbooking supplies and my second daughter had just been born.
Can you describe your style?
CAS ... Clean And Simple!  I'm not much into product laden pages, and I don't like a lot of bulk in my albums.
What are your favourite tools?
Oooo ... tough call.  My fave electronic tool is my Cricut, but my fave manual tool is definately my Martha Stewart craft knife.
What do you wish that you knew when you were first starting out?
I wish I'd just bought for specific photos instead of bits and pieces that, in the end, just didn't coordinate.
What is the biggest challenge you face?
A seriously unbalanced time:idea ratio!!!
Do you create every day?
Yes ... even if it's just an entry for my Project 365 album, crocheting a little owl foot or colouring a stamp, I have to do something creative.
Describe your perfect creative area?
I have plans for a 4.5m wall of floor to ceiling cupboards (one for paper, one for paint, one for fabric).  Each cupboard will have power points and little lights, and a pull out desk that I can work at, then slide away & close the doors so it's out of sight, but not packed up.
Does that resemble where you actually create?
Not yet ... bring on the builder!!!!  Currently I have a table off the kitchen for my papercraft creativity.
Do you prefer to create in a group or by yourself?
I prefer to work at home alone, but I do love me some time with my crafting besties! I tend to talk more than create, so I try to pack light and maybe do a bit of copic colouring.
What do you do for fun?
I love to make dolls, twiddle with Photoshop, crochet, bake and paint.
What do you think is cool?
Seeing my work, or the work of my friends in a magazine ... it's just super cool!
Can you finish this sentence: I would like to be remembered for ...
inspiring creativity in others.

Dawn used the April Embellishment pack ... You can get it here.

I printed the words from the computer using a font called 'Pea Jennifer'.  It's a handwriting front that's pretty darn close to my own writing (when it's neat LOL).  I got he saying from the SIA blog last year.  I really liked it, and have had it sitting around on a scrap of paper to remind me to keep moving forward with my creative endeavours.  When I spotted a dollar shop frame I've had sitting around for a year I suddenly realised how I wanted to use these embellishments.  I used my profile pic from SIA along with the inspirational saying, removed the glass so I could accomodate the flower and the slides, and this will take pride of place on my desk to remind me of how awesome it is, and how lucky I am to work in a creative field.

Ahh March

I have edited this so please see below :)

And so the first day of Autumn is here, however no-one told the weather and good old Sydney town is in for another stinker..... so lets put the air conditioners on again, grab an ice cold drink and enjoy learning about one of the true Ladies of the scrapbooking business...

Hint # 1 Her style is elegant
Hint # 2 She LOVES white cardstock
Hint # 3 Her pages are timeless
One of Sally's fantastic new projects!

Introducing the wonderful Sally Wilson:
I am the creative Director of Delish Designs, wife to Anthony, sister to 4 others and sometime a big dreamer. I’m creative, quick witted and loyal and this is sounding like a star sign!!! Will it just do to say, I’m just an ordinary girl, enjoying being creative & improving my talents, loving the sanctuary of my own home and occupants and I’m experiencing the similar struggles, wishes and hopes as the rest of us good folk.

What inspired you to start Delish Designs?
My Grandmother, Mim. Mim was our Family Historian who scrapped and documented not just her life and her posterity, but also her ancestors. When mim passed away I received her life’s work and thus a budding interest in archival products began.

How long have you been scrapbooking?
Delish has been in business for 5 years, however when I have the opportunity to scrap I do.

When you scrapbook, what do you start with first?
Always start with a blank canvas, white cardstock.. Then the story to document.

Can you describe your style? Clean and elegant

Your favourite tools? Martha Stewart Craft knife, sew easy clear trim-ruler and mat, Herma repositionable glue Chaetae Grey Tsukineko ink

What do you wish that you knew when you were first starting out?
There is no royal road to anything. One thing at a TIME, all things in succession. “Success depends on a chain reaction”. You take an action which leads to a further action, which leads to another action and finally you get a result that you may never have dreamed was possible. There is one catch, the process often takes a long TIME to work, it’s the little things that matter

The biggest challenge you face? Choc-peanut butter ice-cream or hazelnut sorbet.

Do you create every day?  Absolutely, may not be scrapbooking but I’m definitely creative everyday, we all are…

Describe your perfect creative area? Clean, with quite background noise

Does that resemble where you actually create? Yes

Do you prefer to create in a group or by yourself? Love myself time, but do enjoy the occasion scrapfest with family and or friends

What makes you feel wonderful? Many, many things, but top of the list would be a 43 year old boy and his two dogs.

Why is the past important? It reveals who you can become, what you can overcome and how you can influence the present

Can you finish this sentence: I like to daydream about ....”all the good stuff and then some”

As I said at the beginning, one of the nicest ladies in the industry..... now for Australian residents there will be a prize for leaving a comment on this blog post. Photos and updates still to come..... As promised here are the photos, sorry for the delay my computer and Sally's are obviously not talking ;0)

Prize for leaving a comment on this post.....
This months prize (open to all Australian residents who leave a comment on this post) is:
1 x Delish High Tea Project Album
1 x Delish Petite Peppercorn kit (these are the same kits as in our March Embellishment Kit, you can see them here).

Hope you enjoyed our second Who is Who, if you have someone you would like to know more about let me know and we will see what we can do :)
